About
Our mission is to transform the world through more thoughtful and intentional workplaces. We partner with organizations and leaders who want their business model to reflect the value that every employee matters. Providing engaging DEI training, best practices, and guided implementation are central to our work. We honor the experiences of those with whom we work, we are honest about the challenges of change in a society built upon the oppression of others, and we celebrate growth as we witness it.
Morgain MacDonald, MPA
Principal
Morgain MacDonald has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 15 years. She began her journey in youth programming and homelessness prevention. Her experience includes smaller, local nonprofits, as well as nationally-governed organizations. Throughout her career she has been at the forefront of each organization’s DEI initiatives, experiencing the highs and lows of powerful change work. Watching organizations struggle with resistance, new systems design, and frustration, Morgain began focusing on communication and accountability as necessary pieces of successful buy-in. She has since focused her work on teaching tools that allow for personal reflection and growth - integral aspects of social change.
Morgain holds a Bachelors in American Culture from the University of Michigan, and a Masters in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington. She has been invited to guest lecture at the University of Washington as well as Northern Michigan University. Conference presentations have included “Understanding Intersectionality” (2017, 2018, 2019), and “Supported Employment in Housing First” at the 2019 Summit on Ending Homelessness.
“I believe learning should be dynamic, engaging, and thought-provoking. If you haven’t laughed and learned while working with me, I haven’t done my job.”
Outside of work, Morgain is chasing her overly rambunctious dog (who has been known to make video meeting appearances) or playing with her equally rambunctious niblings (gender neutral term for siblings’ children.) She also takes pride in well-curated playlists and home-improvement projects.
Lauren Galarza, MPA
Operations Manager
Lauren Galarza has fifteen years of professional experience in the nonprofit industry and as a freelance consultant. She started as a community organizer in NYC in 2008 and has since worked in a variety of local and national social change roles including as a direct service provider in a mental health shelter, operational work with a financial empowerment think tank, and as a criminal justice policy analyst. While Lauren has loved all the hats she has worn, her passion and tenacity will always lie with community work, especially those affected by the carceral system.
Lauren holds a Bachelor's in Sociology from the University of Michigan and a Master's in Public Administration from the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College (CUNY).
When she's not working, Lauren enjoys the simple pleasures in life with the people she loves. This includes local adventures in the NY/NJ area, watching a good movie, and spending time with her niblings (gender neutral term for siblings’ children) who are completely unimpressed with any of her accomplishments, and that makes them her favorite people.
